Her desire to become an attorney arose out of her family's experience immigrating to the United States. From the age of ten, as she served as her parents' translator and only advocate, she realized the importance of having the right advocate. Gabriela completed her high school education at Holcomb High School in Holcomb, Kansas. She knew at that early age that her calling was the law. She completed her undergraduate education at Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas in 2001 and received her Juris Doctorate from the Washburn School of Law in 2003.
