Speaker: Corey Williamson
Topic: Foundational Principles for a Shifting DEI Landscape
Acknowledging the prevalence of shifting expectations relating to diversity, equity and inclusion professional development, this talk will share strategies for how to infuse principles of inclusion and belonging into workplace culture—creating space for team members to learn, reflect, and advocate. This session will explore ideas for how human resources professionals can lead their staff in taking action to address the unique needs of team members by practicing cultural humility and reflecting on multiple forms of identity.
Corey Williamson serves as the Assistant Vice President for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging at Kansas State University. As a change agent and strategic growth leader, Williamson collaborates with internal and community partners to assess, design, and implement strategic inclusion and belonging programs and services.
Williamson also leads Kansas State University’s institutional effort to host the K-State Truth, Racial Healing and Transformation (TRHT) Campus Center supported by the American Association of Colleges and Universities (AAC&U). TRHT is a framework designed to eliminate the false ideology of hierarchy of human value based on identity. The vision of TRHT Campus Center is for K-State to commit itself to building affirming environments and learning communities that value our backgrounds and intersectionalities and contribute to the inherent dignity and growth of all.
